Obolus transversus was named by Davidson (1866) [Originally described as variety: Obolus davidsoni var. transversus]. It is the type species of Trifissura.
It was recombined as Dinobolus transversus by Davidson and King (1874); it was recombined as Trifissura transversa by Holmer et al. (2014).
