Taxonomy
Xenocephalites vicarius was named by Imlay (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108041, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic 22437, Iniskin Peninsula, which is in a Callovian marine sandstone in the Chinitna Formation of Alaska.
