Paranasuchus gasparinae
Taxonomy
Caiman gasparinae was named by Bona and Carabajal (2013). Its type specimen is MLP-73-IV-15-1, a partial skull (Rostrum with articulated fragments of premaxillae, maxillae, nasals, left lacrymal and a partial braincase), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parana, Pueblo Brugo to Diamante, Ituzaingo Fm., which is in a Huayquerian marine sandstone/mudstone in the Ituzaingo Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Paranasuchus.
It was recombined as Paranasuchus gasparinae by Bona et al. (2024).
