Taxonomy
Leptocoelia dichotoma was named by Hall (1859).

It was recombined as Anoplotheca dichotoma by Weller (1903); it was recombined as Coelospira dichotoma by Clarke (1900), Boucot and Johnson (1967).

Johnson 1967Large for the genus; flatly concavo- convex, ventral flanks may be concave; costae numerous, bifurcating anteriorly, tending to disintegrate at periphery of large shells, medial costae only faintly differentiated; ventral diductors elongate, not elevated on a platform.
