Permianella was named by He and Zhu (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: P]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Permianelloidea.
It was assigned to Permianellidae by Shen and Shi (1997), Williams et al. (2000); and to Articulata by Sepkoski (2002).
