Diagnosis
| Reference | Diagnosis | |
|---|---|---|
| A. Williams 1962 | Subcircular, subequaUy biconvex Scaphorthis, with a subdued carina to the pedicle valve and a low fold becoming obscure anteriorly and indented by a shallow median sulcus in the brachial valve, which is three-quarters as long as broad; shell surface finely costellate, with 3 or, less commonly, 4 costellae per millimetre antero-medianly; cardinalia slender, including a thin, plate-like cardinal process, small socket plates, rod-like brachiophores ankylosed to high supporting plates becoming convergent at about one-fifth the length of the brachial valve, median septum strong, about one-third the length of the brachial valve; subtriangular ventral muscle-scar about one-third as long as the valve and consisting of flanking, narrow, diductor tracks extending slightly forward of a broad adductor field towards divergent vascula media. | |
| C. M. O. Rasmussen et al. 2012 | Shell ventri-biconvex, subcircular in outline; maximum width at one-third of valve length from posterior margin. Anterior commissure rectimarginate to weakly sulcate. Ventral valve evenly convex; interarea moderately high and curved, strongly apsacline; delthyrium high and relatively wide. Dorsal valve weakly convex, with sulcus at the anterior margin; interarea wide, catacline; notothyrium wide. Ornamentation multicostellate with one to two orders of costellae on left side the primary costae; 39 costellae at the anterior margin. One or two growth lines variably developed near the anterior margin. Impunctate.
Ventral interior with large deltidiodont teeth supported by large dental plates that converge onto valve floor to form callus. No muscle impressions. Dorsal interior with weakly elevated, thin blade-like cardinal process; brachiophores closely spaced, divergent; brachiophore bases converging onto moderately elevated notothyrial platform with wide, relatively large crural plates; crural plates merge anteriorly of the brachiophores continuing into an elevated, relatively thick dorsal median septum. Deep dental sockets posterior of brachiophores. |
