Schuchertella pertinax was named by Reed (1917) [Lectotype selected by Cocks (1978 ).]. Its type specimen is B 7294 1 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Saughina pertinax by Bancroft (1949), Temple (1987), Cocks (2008).
