Taxonomy
Orthis borealis was named by Billings (1859). Its type specimen is G.S.C. 1035c. and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hebertella borealis by Raymond (1911); it was recombined as Mimella borealis by Cooper (1956).
