Taxonomy
Ringsteadia sphenoidea was named by Buckman (1926). Its type specimen is NHM C41691 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wootton Bassett (Marston Ironstone, BMNH), which is in an Oxfordian carbonate limestone in the Ampthill Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
