Tetralobula peregrina was named by Popov et al. (2005). Its type specimen is CNIGR 209 ⁄ 222, a valve (complete shell), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Popov et al. 2005Shell slightly ventribiconvex, large for genus, subquadrate with maximum width at mid length; lateral profile of both valves moderately convex with maximum thickness slightly posterior of mid valve; dorsal median fold and ventral sulcus weak, originating slightly anterior of mid length; radial ornament multicostellate comprising c. 17–20 ribs per 5 mm along anterior margin; dorsal interior with large, strongly impressed adductor field extending anteriorly to mid valve length.
