Taxonomy
Stropheodonta (Brachyprion) gibbera was named by Amsden (1958) [= Strophodonta [sic] varistriata Girty 1899, p. 547 [part]); = Stropheodonta crebristriata [?] Reeds 1911 (p. 264); not Hall 1842. = Stropheodonta crebristriata [?] Maxwell 1936 (p. 90); not Hall 1842. = Stropheodonta (Brachyprion) sp. Williams 1953 (pl. 7, figs. 6, 7 [?]).]. Its type specimen is OU-930 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is C1-K; near old Hunton townsite, which is in a Lochkovian deep subtidal ramp marl in the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma.

It was recombined as Gibberostrophia gibbera by Harper and Boucot (1978).
