Taxonomy
Aulacostephanus (Aulacostephanoceras) lopsiensis was named by Mesezhnikov (1984). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 1337/633, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lopsiya River, outcrop 41, bed 7, which is in a Kimmeridgian open shallow subtidal claystone in the Russian Federation.
