Taxonomy
Holonema horrida was named by Cope (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Leroy (locality 1), which is in a Frasnian marine horizon in the Chemung Formation of Pennsylvania.

It was corrected as Holonema horridum by Hay (1902).
