Springerocystis was named by Bassler (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l]. Its type is Springerocystis longicollis. It is the type genus of Springerocystidae.

It was assigned to Springerocystidae by Bassler (1950); and to Paracrinoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
