Williams 1962Large, subquadrate Taphrorthis with a convex brachial valve, only initially sulcate, and a slightly less convex pedicle valve about four-fifths as long as wide and broadly sulcate anteriorl3~; ornamentation finely costellate with 10 per 5 mm. antero-medianly and wide interspaces, concentrically lamellose and beating radial filae; ventral muscle-field over nine-tenths as wide as long contained in a subtriangular pseudospondylium less than one-third as long as the pedicle valve with a broad, elevated adductor ridge extending beyond the anterior margins of the lateral diductors.
