Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
A. Williams 1962Semicircular, convexo-concave Valcourea about three-fifths as long as wide in ventral outline with a sharp, ventral, median fold and complementary dorsal sulcus tending to disappear in adult stages of growth, brachial valve less than one-fifth as deep as wide; costellate ornamentation finely developed, varying from 12 to 19 costellae, most commonly 15, per 5 mm. at the medio-anterior margin, and cancellated by closely spaced, delicate concentric lamellae; ventral muscle-scar long and subflabeUate, more than two-fifths the length of the pedicle valve, and almost as wide as long; ventral pallial sinus pattern saccate; myophore strong, bulbous, trilobed with a high median carina, sockets large, flaring laterally; dorsal adductor field divided by a short median ridge continuous with the cardinal process shaft, rarely deeply impressed, extending anteriorly for less than two-fifths the length of the valve; dorsal pallial sinus pattern pinnate.
