Diagnosis

---|---|---|
A. Williams 1962 | Semi-elliptical, piano-convex Sericoidea with the brachial valve one-half as long as wide, ornamentation consisting of fine, differentially thickened costae and costellae, most commonly numbering 13 per millimetre antero-medianly; lophophore septules arranged in an arc over two-thirds of the length of the brachial valve from the umbo, either as a single or double row and with the posterior row more commonly in front of the median and submedian septa. | |
M. A. Parkes 1994 | Exterior. Concave- or planoconvex, small shells of transversely semicircular outline, maximum width at hinge line. Cardinal angles acute to rectangular. Ventral valve most convex near umbo in lateral profile, about 15% as I deep as long. Anterior profile rectimarginate, evenly convex, 1 occasionally strongly convex medially. Length is 58% of the width (N = 53). Dorsal interarea hypercline and short, ventral interarea apsacline. Ornament quite variable, commonly finely costellate, occasionally parvicostellate, with about 10 ribs per mm, 2 mm anterior of the umbo.
Ventral interior. Very weakly impressed bilobed small 1 muscle field. Small, simple teeth project dorsilaterally and are unsupported. Anterior margins of shell show feebly developed ribs, sometimes extending posteriorly to midvalve. Interspaces and valve interior characterized by minute pustules. Dorsal interior. Short socket ridges ankylosed to small I cardinal process. Thin median septum extends to mid-length I of valve. Variable septule development, commonly 4, 5 or 6 1 septules arranged in an arc from the anterior end of the median septum. Occasionally second anterior arc of septules or very large circular pustules, third a rc of coarse pustules j rarely developed. External ornament impressed on finely pustulose interior. | |
Y. Candela 2011 | Ornament unequally parvicostellate with five primary costae dividing the shell into sectors, with four costellae per sector; 14–15 costellae per mm at the 2 mm growth stage. Dorsal interior with anterior end of median septum extending for 40% of valve length; septule signature one ms + one pair of sms + three pairs of septules; second row occasionally developed anteriorly with up to six septules; anterior row developed at 70% of valve length in later stages of growth. |
