Microtrypa cassata was named by Williams (1962). Its type specimen is BB.15237, a valve (Internal mould of brachial valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Williams 1962 | Subquadrate to subtrigonal Microtrypa with art evenly concavo-convex adult profile about one-quarter as deep as long; radial ornamentation cancellated, consisting of fine costellae, commonly spaced at 6 per millimetre antero-medianly and divided into narrow sectors by thickened costae and costellae; dental lamellae short, widely divergent and continuous with a pair of curved ridges which almost surround a small rhomboidal muscle-field, adductor scars wide and separated by a thin median ridge; cardinal process high, notothyrial platform prolonged as a short median septum continuous anteriorly with a pair of subparallel pustulose ridges with a fine median ridge lying between, another pair of short divergent septa are located anterior to the socket plates and are continuous with an outer pair of long, pustulose, subparallel ridges. |
