Taxonomy
Pachydiscus (Pachydiscus) gutierrezi was named by Salazar et al. (2010). Its type specimen is CPUC/Q/LT/89, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Las Tablas, Quiriquina Island (locality LT, beds with concretions), which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Quiriquina Formation of Chile.
