Taxonomy
Strophomena dubia was named by Rukavishnikova (1956). Its type specimen is IGNA103/1369, a shell (conjoined valves), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Oxostrophomena.

It was recombined as Oxostrophomena dubia by Nikitina et al. (2006).

Nikitina et al. 2006Shell convexoconcave, strongly geniculated ventrally; ventral interarea apsacline with a pseudodeltidium; dorsal interarea orthocline to slightly apsacline with discrete chilidial plates; radial ornament parvicostellate, posterior area of both valves covered by irregular concentric rugellae. Ventral interior with large striated teeth and long divergent dental plates, muscle field small, elongate, suboval in outline, with diductor scars extended beyond but not enclosing narrow adductor scars. Dorsal interior with a bilobed cardinal process situated on a narrow triangular notothyrial platform; socket ridges very short, straight, blade-like with a striated posterior surface, divergent anteriorly; sockets small semi-conical; muscle field small, divided by a broad median ridge and with posterior adductors larger then anterior scars; dorsal mantle canals saccate.
