Uzunbulakia rugosa

Taxonomy
Uzunbulakia rugosa was named by Nikitina et al. (2006). Its type specimen is USNM 485142, a valve (ventral internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 219. Uzunbulak Sector, which is in an Abereiddian marine sandstone in the Uzunbulak Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Uzunbulakia.

O. I. Nikitina et al. 2006Shell concavoconvex; anterior commissure rectimarginate; pseudodeltidium present; notothyrial covering indistinct. Radial ornament finely multicostellate, divided into four sectors by a median costa and two costa-like grooves radiating at 45° from the median rib; concentric ornament of regular oblique rugellae inclined to the posterior margin. Ventral interior with wide, short teeth lacking dental plates; small, bilobed muscle field and thin subperipheral rim. Dorsal interior with short socket plates subparallel to hinge and a short notothyrial platform. Cardinal process small, simple, bulbous. Median ridge low and broad, originating in front of notothyrial platform, becoming double-crested at junction with medial margins of subperipheral rim bordering the dorsal platform.
