Kujanorthis anderkensis

Rhynchonellata - Orthida - Plectorthidae

Taxonomy
Kujanorthis anderkensis was named by Nikitina et al. (2006). Its type specimen is USNM 485050, a valve (dorsal internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 209. Kurzhaksai section, which is in an Abereiddian open shallow subtidal limestone/sandstone in the Uzunbulak Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Kujanorthis.

Nikitina et al. 2006Shell strongly dorsibiconvex with uniplicate anterior commissure; deep ventral sulcus and dorsal median fold originating posterior to mid-valve; radial ornament multicostellate, coarser on fold and sulcus than on flanks; ventral muscle field short, on pseudospondilium, dental plates short, widely divergent; ventral mantle canals lemniscate; dorsal interior with simple blade-like cardinal process on high, narrow notothyrial platform; high brachiophores with fulcral plates and short bases convergent towards notothyrial platform; low median ridge bisecting adductor muscle field containing larger scars of posterior adductors.
