Taxonomy
Etheridgella was named by Croneis and McCormack (1932) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. Its type is Etheridgella porosa. It is the type genus of Etheridgellidae.

It was assigned to Elasipoda by Deflandre-Rigaud (1952); to Etheridgellidae by Summerson and Campbell (1958), Deflandre-Rigaud (1962), Frizzell and Exline (1966), Kozur and Mostler (1971); and to Arthrochirotida by Sepkoski (2002).
