Taxonomy
Frizzellus was named by Hampton (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr J Oxfo Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Etheridgellidae by Hampton (1958), Deflandre-Rigaud (1962), Frizzell and Exline (1966), Kozur and Sadeddin (1990), Krainer and Mostler (1997); and to Arthrochirotida by Sepkoski (2002).
