Kalpinella was named by Hinde (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Kalpinella pateraeformis.
It was assigned to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phymatellinae by Finks et al. (2004).
