Taxonomy
Hercoglossa majungaensis was named by Obata and Kanie (1978). Its type specimen is NSM.PM 9360, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Location Mj 9'-3, which is in a Danian marine chalk in Madagascar.
