Eospirifer ghobadiae
Taxonomy
Eospirifer ghobadiae was named by Popov and Cocks (2013) [= 1979 Eospirifer sp. Cocks, p. 38, figs 32, 33.]. Its type specimen is BC 60473, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample B-11/S13–14, Saluk Mountains, which is in an Aeronian carbonate limestone in the Qarabil Formation of Iran.

L. E. Popov and L. R. M. Cocks 2013 | Large Eospirifer with a slightly dorsibiconvex shell, a well-developed dorsal median fold and ventral sulcus. Ventral interarea curved with deltidial plates merged medially to enclose a large, slightly elongate, suboval pedicle foramen. Radial ornament of fine, subequal, flattened capillae. Ventral interior with strong teeth and long, straight, divergent dental plates confined to the sinus margins. Dorsal interior with long crural plates. No ctenophoridium. |
