Aturia praeziczac was named by Oppenheim (1902). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schech-Abd-el-Ourun, Thebes, which is in a Ypresian offshore shale in the Esna Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Aturia (Nilaturia).
It was recombined as Aturia (Nilaturia) praeziczac by Stenzel (1935).
