Nautilus (Cymatoceras) virgatus was named by Spengler (1910). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Odium, beds with Schloenbachia inflata, which is in an Albian marine limestone in India.
It was recombined as Cymatoceras virgatum by Matsumoto et al. (1984).
