Taxonomy
Neptunoceras sakmarense was named by Shimansky (1949). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sakmara River, cut 167 km, which is in a Gzhelian marine siliciclastic in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Tetrapleuroceras sakmarense by Shimanskiy (1967).
