Taxonomy
Coelonautilus znamenskianus was named by Tzwetaev (1898). Its type specimen is LGU XXXIII/255, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Znamenskoe village, which is in a Visean marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Subvestinautilus znamenskianus by Shimanskiy (1967).
