Taxonomy
Verneuilites progressus was named by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1978). Its type specimen is PIN 455/42755, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shartym River, Sample 3, Southern Urals, Chelyabinsk, which is in a Marsdenian offshore shelf limestone in the Russian Federation.
