Liroceras devjatovense was named by Shimanskiy (1967). Its type specimen is PIN 1192/901, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Desna River, at Devyatovo (PIN collection), which is in a Podolskian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
