Proclydonautilus sinekensis was named by Popov (1989). Its type specimen is TsNIGR 402/6399, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sineke River, Kulu river basin, which is in a Tuvalian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
