Taxonomy
Terebratula unguis was named by Sowerby and Murchison (1839).

It was recombined as Orthis unguis by Davidson (1869); it was recombined as Wattsella unguis by Bancroft (1945); it was recombined as Dalmanella unguis by Dean (1958), Cocks (1978), Hurst (1979), Villas (1992).
