Taxonomy
Goniatites subcircularis was named by Miller (1889). It is the type species of Lusitanites.

It was recombined as Lusitanites subcircularis by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971), Kuzina and Yatskov (1990), Korn and Ebbighausen (2008); it was recombined as Neoglyphioceras subcirculare by Gordon (1964), Tongtherm et al. (2016).
