Taxonomy
Gilbertsocrinus was named by Phillips (1836) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-l C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Rhodocrinidae by Goldring (1936); to Rhodocrinitidae by Moore and Jeffords (1968), Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Diplobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
