Aryballocrinus was named by Breimer (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant. Its type is Actinocrinus (Megistocrinus) whitei.
It was assigned to Periechocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Amphoracrinidae by Ausich and Roeser (2012).
