Taxonomy
Cenoceras belmontense was named by Rulleau (2008). Its type specimen is PF Toa 578, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belmont d’Azergues (Lafarge quarry), Middle Toarcian (bifrons/variabilis), which is in a Toarcian marine marl/limestone in France.
