Taxonomy
Batocrinus was named by Casseday (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-l C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Batocrinidae.

It was assigned to Batocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
