Macrocrinus was named by Jaekel (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant. Its type is Actinocrinus konincki.
It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Batocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978), Ausich et al. (2018).
