Endoceras proteiforme
Taxonomy
Endoceras proteiforme was named by Hall (1847) [Designated genotype by Flower 1955. This designation postdates that of Miller 1889 who designated E. annulatum. D'Orbigny incorrected considered Endoceras annulatum to be a homonym of Orthoceras annulatum and unnesesarily renamed this taxon E. subannulatum.]. It is the type species of Endoceras.
