Vipera (Macrovipera) sarmatica
Taxonomy
Vipera (Daboia) sarmatica was named by Chkhikvadse and Lungu (1987). Its type specimen is TGPI 18/72-1, a set of vertebrae (a single trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kalfa, which is in a MN 10 coastal sandstone in Moldova.
It was recombined as Vipera (Macrovipera) sarmatica by Zerova (1993).
