Taxonomy
Haplocrinites was named by Steininber (1837) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Eugeniacrinites mespiliformis. It is the type genus of Haplocrinitidae.

It was assigned to Crinoidea by Roemer (1843); to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Haplocrinitidae by Webster and Rakhmonov (2009).
