Orthis asmusi was named by Verneuil (1845).

It was recombined as Strophomena asmusi by Gagel (1890); it was recombined as Strophomena (Actinomena) asmusi by Opik (1934); it was recombined as Actinomena amusi by Oraspold (1956); it was recombined as Longvillia asmusi by Rõõmusoks (1993), Roomusoks (2004).
