Paradoxocrinus was named by Wanner (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Paradoxocrinidae.

It was assigned to Paradoxocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
