Taxonomy
Vipera (Vipera) meotica was named by Zerova (1992) [in Szyndlar & Zerova (1992)]. Its type specimen is IZAN 45-5023 (a basisphenoid) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cherevichnoie, lower layer, which is in a MN 12 fluvial sandstone/gravel in Ukraine.
