Taxonomy
Russellophis tenuis was named by Rage (1975). Its type specimen is MNHN CB 1603 (a single mid-trunk vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Condé-en-Brie, which is in a MP 8 + 9 terrestrial horizon in France.
