Carcinocrinus was named by Laudon (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 906]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Blothrocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
