Taxonomy
Archaeoceratodus theganus was named by Kemp (1997). Its type specimen is MV P160504, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lake Pinpa, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine claystone in the Namba Formation of Australia.
